Theoretically, both should've been able to body Crash's attack mainly because both consoles do have the ability to handle a (very basic and slow) 3D effect, and had several examples of it even if said games ran slow.
Another thing to mention is how Genesis does have 32bit processing with the 32X but ultimately falls apart with the PS1 having 3mb of ram.

Pretty damn fucking good content, wonder how a battle with their different peripherals and expansions would go down though.
